Stop the Genocide in Zimbabwe!

In the case of Zimbabwe we now have genocide but a much more clever and evil version. Robert Mugabe is using the distribution of food and medical supplies to intimidate, harm and kill in a deliberate genocide against those who do not sell their souls to ZANU-PF. Aid is usually only accepted if the government controls its distribution and aid agencies get told where and how they are allowed to help. Mugabe is using access to food and medicine to kill those he considers ‘traitors’ – which in his regime is anyone who does not whole-heartedly support him.   He is systematically destroying a group of people – they are Zimbabweans and they are dying by genocide.

Free Jestina Mukoko!

Jestina Mukoko is a human rights activist and director of the Zimbabwe Peace Project. The ZPP simply collects evidence of human rights abuses in Zimbabwe.  She was abducted by Mugabe’s thugs early in December, she reappeared to be charged in court on 24 December and in contravention of a high court order remains in the abusive Chikurubi jail. She has been denied access to legal and medical assistance. This is a woman with a heart of gold and the strength of a lion standing against injustice and abuse in her beloved land. The international community can’t stand by and watch the genocide in Zimbabwe any longer!

Trying to put international pressure directly on Zimbabwe is not working. South Africa continues to exacerbate the pain of the Zimbabwean people by supporting Robert Mugabe. Just days ago, in breach of personalized international sanctions against Mugabe, South Africa gave ZANU-PF $30 million. Ask your political representative to start action against a rouge South African government. Sanctions, travel restrictions for South African politicians and a ban on weapon sales to South Africa is a start.

Pressure of Mugabe’s friends is the only non-violent way forward.
